Kids Night Out Registration (Child Care)
Location: NWA Mercy Family YMCA
Are you looking for a night out while your kids have a blast at the Y? if so, bring your children to the YMCA’s Kids night Out! this program is offered for children 2 to14 years and involves activities such as ping pong, organized games, crafts and lots of fun! All children will be served dinner between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. Dinner will include a slice of pizza, bag of apples and a drink. Activities start at 6:00 p.m. and run until 10:00 p.m.

Please bag or box all items possible.Paints, chemicals, fertilizers, household cleaners, batteries, oils, and fluorescent light bulbs must be taken to the Transfer Station at 1108 E. Ashley on Friday, April 5th from 8:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. There will be a $5.00 charge per load. Electronics (TV’s, computers, monitors, microwaves, printers, fax machines, stereos, etc…) must also be taken to the transfer station at 1108 East Ashley for free disposal. Annual Lawnmower Tune Up (Fundraiser)
Location: Abernathy Agriscience Building (1194 W. Cassatt Rd.)
The Agricultural Mechanization (AgMech) club and the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) will be hosting the “Lawnmower Tune Up” fundraiser April 5-6.The event will be held at the Abernathy Agriscience Building at the Arkansas Agricultural Research and Extension Center (1194 W. Cassatt Rd.) off Garland Avenue, approximately two miles north of the U of A campus.Individuals interested in Lawnmower Tune Up can drop off lawnmowers between 1-6 p.m. on Friday, April 5, and from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6. All lawnmowers will need to be picked up by 5 p.m. Saturday. Customers will be notified by phone when their mowers are ready for pick up.The cost for lawnmower maintenance is $30 per mower plus oil and parts; the average cost is $37. The tune up includes: changing spark plugs, filter and oil, and sharpening and balancing mower blade. Only push mowers in working order will be accepted.

Moms On The Farm Tour (Education)

A group of female faculty and staff involved with agriculture at the UA will host the second annual Moms on the Farm tour Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour will include trips to beef, poultry and dairy farms. Lunch will be provided, followed by cooking demonstrations by the Arkansas Cattlewomen. The tour begins at the Pauline Whitaker Arena (1335 W. Knapp St.) off Garland Avenue, approximately two miles north of the University of Arkansas campus. Participants will be transported by bus to tour locations. The Moms on the Farm tour is free but seats are limited. Non-farm moms planning to attend the event are registered on a first-come first-served basis. The deadline to register is April 5. The goal of the tour is to help mothers understand more about agricultural production, food safety and nutrition and experience NWA agriculture first-hand. Altar'd State and TOMs shoes have partnered together for the "One Day without Shoes" mile walk at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade. It's Tuesday, April 16th, from 5-7PM. It's purpose is to raise awareness of TOMs cause. Also, there will be door prizes, refreshments, face painting, and live music. The best part is that anyone can come! We encourage churches and other local charities to bring a group because the group with the largest amount of participants will get $100 donated to their charity or non-profit... All they have to do is come walk a mile without shoes with us!
Book Fair Benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities (Fundraiser)

There will be members of the John Brown University Cathedral Choir present as well as other outstanding musicians from the university. Refreshments will also be provided. We hope to see you there!

Shooting for Scholars (Fundraiser)

Samaritan Community Center is seeking "new" volunteers to help us honor our 350+ volunteers as part of our annual volunteer appreciation and awards dinner on Friday April 26th. World Vision's 30 Hour Famine (Community Event)
Location: First Baptist Church, Elkins
This April 26-27, the youth of FBC, Elkins will be joining the efforts of hundreds of thousands of young people all over the nation who will set aside the usual “stuff” that fills their daily lives. Instead, they will do World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine by going without food, and getting a taste of what the world’s poorest children and families face every day. Prior to the event weekend, students raise funds with the knowledge that every $30 they raise can help feed and care for a child for a month. Groups are also encouraged to perform hands-on service projects during the weekend in order to make a difference in their own communities. As part of the Famine, local participants will be sleeping in cardboard boxes, having a car wash, doing yard work, and community projects to raise money to combat hunger. Funds raised by 30 Hour Famine participants help feed and care for children in communities in need around the globe through World Vision. A portion of the funds raised assist families in need in the United States. Famine funds contribute to World Vision’s response in areas where famine, conflict, and other crises make children vulnerable to hunger and preventable disease. Since 1992, 30 Hour Famine has raised close to $150 million, representing countless lives saved. World Vision works in nearly 100 countries, helping approximately 100 million people every year.

"It Only Takes a Spark" Human Trafficking Awareness Art show (Art Show)

This is a student-led art show put together to help spread awareness about Human Trafficking called, "It Only Takes a Spark" because we believe that it only takes a spark of courage or motion to inspire change. We have put together an art show which will occur Friday, April 26 from 6-8:30pm. The art in the show will be made by students from Springdale high school and the University of Arkansas. There will be informative displays for the public, showing of a documentary on human trafficking, and a non-profit organization based in Joplin called Rapha House will also be present to give information and allow people to make donations if they desire. We want to educate the community on this global issue and hopefully spark a movement toward hope for those who are living their days in bondage.
