Mac Powell Interview

Third Day, Brandon Heath, and Mandisa are going to be in concert tomorrow, Saturday, March 15th, at the BOK Center in Tulsa!

In advance of the show, Mac Powell, lead singer for Third Day, decided to drop by the Drive-Home and chat with Kara about the concert, how they have stayed inspired after 20 years as a band, and much more.

A couple of things from the show to share with you today! Some words that were especially encouraging to me today, and something just for fun (grown-ups lip-syncing Disney songs?)...

We hope you're enjoying the glorious temperatures on this Monday! Here's a quick recap of what we talked about on the show today...

Today is Ash Wednesday. I only know this because I keep stumbling across blogs about it.

Lent wasn't a part of my faith tradition growing up, but I've learned some interesting things about it in recent years. I'm beginning to appreciate the motivation of those who use the season as an opportunity to prepare their hearts in the weeks leading up to the celebration of Easter.

Nevertheless, I never quite feel prepared for Lent when it shows up...

An Inspiring Video

So, it's another snow day! And we've pretty much said all there is to say on that subject this winter, so we thought you might like to watch an inspiring video instead!

Misheard Lyrics

It's Friday! To be honest, on most Fridays Kara and I are more in the mood to watch silly YouTube videos and joke around than discuss anything serious.  But hey, we're sure many of you feel the same way by the end of a long work-week!

So today, we happened upon a funny idea from Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show: "Misheard Lyrics."  It's apparently blowing up on Twitter... basically just people sharing songs where the lyrics they thought they heard were much different from the actual song.  For example, one person said that as a child they were pretty sure the song at the beginning of "The Lion King" went, "PENNNNSLYVVANNNIIAAAA!"  (Hint: that's not what it says.)

Here's what we talked about on the show today!

Mr. Rogers - America's Favorite Neighbor: Today marks 11 years since America's favorite neighbor, Mr. Rogers, passed away. Ansen and I both remember watching him on TV as kids. You may think of puppets, cardigans, and singing when you think of this simple man. But he also had some incredible wisdom. You can read all about his legacy in this great article...

The Power of Paying Attention

Yeah, I know the Olympics are over. But I haven't quite accepted it yet. Last night I got home after doing the Drive-Home show and instinctively grabbed the remote, only to have it dawn on me that the Closing Ceremony had already wrapped up the Sochi Games the night before.

I'm an Olympic junkie, I confess. The human-interest stories, learning about the culture of the host country, and the incredible athleticism on display all draw me in. But more than anything, I just enjoy watching obscure sports get their chance in the limelight once every four years. I think I've caught about every minute of coverage with the help of my DVR, though there were certainly some events that I deemed more "boring" than others and only watched out of the corner of my eye.

Fighting Words

Did you know watching the Olympics can be dangerous? I mean really, one minute I'm enjoying a perfectly innocent Bobsled race and the next minute? I'm crying. Not like, "my eyes are watering" kind of crying. More like the ugly cry.

Wham! Didn't see that coming...

It's another beautiful day in Northwest Arkansas! We're still sticking to our conclusion that spring has come. (At least until it snows again... hopefully in December.)
