It's that time of year. Greeting cards are flying off the shelves. (Or at least they should be.) This is your official reminder to buy your mom a Mother's day card if you haven't.
In addition to Mother's day, graduation is just around the corner for many seniors!...
"Doesn't it just fill you with hope?" Keri asks me as we walk slowly out the front doors. I can tell we're both a little reluctant to leave.
And no wonder. It's been one of those days, where we get to glimpse behind the curtain. The intangible became tangible. As we listened to their stories, it was clear my heart wasn't the only one melting and leaking out my eyes.
It's fun to reminisce about holiday traditions from our childhood, isn't it? But if you're like me, while you might look back on all of those traditions fondly as an adult, there were probably some that you looked forward to much more than others as a young child.
I'll put it this way: the 8-year-old version of Ansen was way more excited about getting presents and candy than going to church or reading Bible passages. My mindset was to get through the boring stuff so that we could get to the good stuff. I'm pretty sure I wasn't alone.
Don't you love spring weather? The growing grass and flowers, the rain showers, and don't forget the lack of ice, sleet, and snow days!
One thing about spring that I don't love quite as much (though some do!) but that's definitely necessary is spring cleaning.
Spring is also a great time to try some new things, like recipes! Kara picked up a couple new ones this past weekend she wanted to pass along.
Happy Spring Break!
You know, unless you're like most of us, who don't really get a break on Spring Break. Most people who work keep working, and some people (looking at you, moms!) do even more work during Spring Break. After all, those kids who aren't at school still have to go somewhere (home) and be supervised by someone (you).
Third Day, Brandon Heath, and Mandisa are going to be in concert tomorrow, Saturday, March 15th, at the BOK Center in Tulsa!
In advance of the show, Mac Powell, lead singer for Third Day, decided to drop by the Drive-Home and chat with Kara about the concert, how they have stayed inspired after 20 years as a band, and much more.
A couple of things from the show to share with you today! Some words that were especially encouraging to me today, and something just for fun (grown-ups lip-syncing Disney songs?)...
We hope you're enjoying the glorious temperatures on this Monday! Here's a quick recap of what we talked about on the show today...
Today is Ash Wednesday. I only know this because I keep stumbling across blogs about it.
Lent wasn't a part of my faith tradition growing up, but I've learned some interesting things about it in recent years. I'm beginning to appreciate the motivation of those who use the season as an opportunity to prepare their hearts in the weeks leading up to the celebration of Easter.
Nevertheless, I never quite feel prepared for Lent when it shows up...
