In the gospel of Luke, Jesus asks a question. "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?"
Planning is crucial to any endeavor. The old saying goes, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." This is true of our finances, our eating, how we use our time, every area of life. We wouldn't think of starting to build a house without a blueprint. We wouldn't think of beginning a 2,000 mile trip without a map to guide us. The map and blueprint shows us how to get where we want to go.
Yet, many travel through their lives without any map to guide them. They hope that somehow they will end up where they need to be at the right time. The only problem is that they don’t even know where they want to go.
Why not sit down today and set some goals for where you want to go financially? Ask yourself what you want your life to look like in six months, a year, five years. Then develop a plan to help you reach your goals. A spending plan is simply a map that enables you to reach your goals and avoid wrong turns. We can help you with the process.
Yogi Berra said, "If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else." Is it worth the risk?
